The SilencerCo Osprey 40 uses a monocore baffle design inside a polygonal housing, allowing the user to use their existing factory sights while maintaining the benefits of a larger internal volume. A patented cam locking system allows the SilencerCo Osprey to index to the correct position, and retain that position between mounting and removal. In addition to pistol cartridges, the SilencerCo Osprey is also rated for subsonic 300 Blackout ammunition. Use of the SilencerCo Osprey on a fixed barrel, such as an AR-15, requires the use of a fixed barrel spacer.
High performance and multi-caliber capabilities of the SilencerCo Osprey make it one of the most popular silencers on the market today. The SilencerCo Osprey features a unique booster, or Nielsen device, that allows for proper cycling with all relevant semi-automatic handguns. All versions of the Osprey utilize the same booster dimensions, so the user is able to interchange the piston portion for different calibers or thread specifications.
