Description
2/1/22 – This is a nice example of a Mauser Gewehr 98 rifle issued to the Imperial German military in 1916. The gun is entirely mismatched and has small import marks on both sides of the receiver. Imperial proofs throughout. Comes with an original cleaning rod. Overall, the gun is in nice condition. There is significant finish loss on the barrel bands, floor plate, and trigger guard. Lighter but noticeable finish loss on the receiver and along the barrel. There is light brown patina and tiny dots of oxidation almost all of the metal parts. The stock is in nice condition with tiny dings and bruises throughout – no visible markings. The hand guard is a little loose. The butt plate does not fit on the stock perfectly (see photos). the bore is shiny with good rifling and minor frosting in the grooves.
