Description
1/10/23 – This is an original WW2 production K98 bayonet. The bayonet comes with a period correct, but mismatching numbered scabbard, and leather frog. The bayonet blade is date stamped “38” on the spine. The blued blade is in great shape with some mild scabbard rub wear and surface finish loss throughout. The metal hilt has finish loss and surface patina, along with some rough areas that are the beginning signs of pitting – mostly near the pommel. The scabbard has a few dents along the left side – as if this was used to hammer something at some point. There’s surface patina throughout the scabbard. The leather frog is missing the closure strap and some stitches on the back of the frog. The back of the frog is also RBNr. stamped.
