10/12/22 – This is a Springfield M1 Garand sold to the public as a part of the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). It comes with an original matching-number CMP certificate and CMP and matching-numbered CMP hang tag. The receiver dates to 1944. The barrel is marked SA and dated June of 1947. This gun is considered “Rack Grade”. There is not a lot of actual finish loss, but there is minor pitting on the whole receiver, spotty surface oxidation along the barrel, and brown patina on the floor plate / trigger group. The stock is in nice condition, but there is noticeable bruising in the upper handguard and a few noticeable dings in the front handguard. A couple of circular wood repairs. The condition of the front hand guard, upper hand guard, and stock do not match. There is a stamped rack number on the underside of the butt stock. The bore has good rifling with minor pin-pricking in the grooves.
