Description
8/1/22 – This is an original M1859 Marine Corps NCO Sword. The sword blade is engraved on each side with a floral pattern. There’s also knight’s helmets, flags, shields, and a maker “W.H. Horstmann & Son, Philadelphia” on one side. The engraving is somewhat worn and has a buffed-out appearance due to aging and general wear. The blade also has some mild surface patina and speckling / oxidation in various small areas. No signs of sharpening along the edge, and no notable nicks or chips in the edge. The handle has nice natural patina and an excellent leather handle and tightly wound chord. The scabbard is in great condition as well considering its age. There’s some cracking on the leather portion of the scabbard, and surface patina on the metal mouth and tip.
