4/27/22 – This is a nice example of a rare Springfield Armory Model 1911 issued to the US military during WW1. It is “United States Property” marked, has the proper Springfield Eagle on the right side of the slide, and has flaming bomb military acceptance proofs. The small parts are properly “S” marked, and it has a correct Springfield barrel. The gun has retained roughly 25% of its original finish. There is obvious finish loss, spotty oxidation, and areas of pin-pricking throughout. The only remaining finish is mainly on the sides of the frame. Comes with fairly worn wood grips and one period-correct two-tone magazine with a lanyard loop on the bottom. The rifling in the bore is worn with tiny pits throughout.
